David Piper POW 1814

Submitted by Dorrie Simon You are correct that I am a Piper descendant. Caroline (Piper) Long's father Elisha Piper was born in Hampden, ME and came "west" first stopping in Ohio and then traveling to Bureau Co. settling in Leepertown and then Selby Township. I have this really interesting story of David Piper, Elisha's father, who is buried in Amelia, Clermont Co. OH. Since he didn't come to Bureau Co. you may not want to post it, but it is an interesting story of how he was a prisoner of war by the British at the end of the War of 1812 (attached). Both the bio and the POW parole are from the book "Genealogy of Elisha Piper of Parsonsfield, ME" by Horace Piper, A. M., 1889. Neat story, huh?
