Tampico Memorial Cemetery Section L-15 P, LaFerne Renner Egert 5/19/26-Jan. 17, 2001 Richard Dean Egert 9/30/26-4/26/56 LaFerne Egert 2001 Newspaper clipping - probably the Sterling Gazette LaFerne Egert Sterling - LaFerne Egert, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at Sterling Pavillion Ltd. She owned Renner Quarries Lmt. of Dixon. Mrs. EGERT was born May 19, 1926, in Deer Grove, the daughter of Lourde and Blanche (CANTRELL) RENNER. She graduated from Tampico High School in 1944 and attended Brown's Business College in Sterling following graduation from high school. She married Richard D. EGERT on June 7, 1947, at Fourth Street Methodist Church in Sterling. He died in 1953. She began working at Renner Quarries in 1941 as scale operator, secretary and bookkeeper until she advanced to manager and eventually purchased the business in 1967. She opened four stone quarries in Lee County with her two sons who are still operating the family business. She was amember of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling, and the Sterling Rock Falls Elks Lodge 1218 Auxillary. She was a director for three, three-year terms of the National Stone Association, Washington, D. C., Governmental Affairs Committee, a member of Illinois Association of Aggregate Producers, and the Dixon Area Chamber of Commerce. She was a recipeint of the Pearl Woods Award. Survivors include two sons, Gary (Debbie) EGERT of Dixon, Robert (Marty) EGERT ofSterling and four grandchildren, Kathy, Quincy, Sara and Jakob. She was preceded indeath by one brother, Bobbie Gene RENNER. Funeral Servies will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, at the Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, with the Rev. Joseph SNIDER, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 -4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Diabetes Foundation and the Stroke Foundation.
