Todd D. McElhiney


Todd D. McElhiney, 57, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 10:14 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.



He was born in Chicago on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 1950, a son of Lloyd and Alma (Caldwell) McElhiney.



Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.



Family will greet friends from noon until service time 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.



Interment and burial of cremated remains will be held at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County at a later date.



Todd is survived by his mother, Alma McElhiney of Tampico; three daughters, Jennifer Staples and husband Eric of Sterling, Amanda Boettner and husband Nathan of Forreston and Jaleigh McElhiney of Mt. Vernon; five grandchildren, Drew Pace, MacKenzie and Lexy Staples of Sterling and Brooke and Evan Boettner of Forreston; brother, Steven McElhiney of Tampico; sister, Beth Brondas of Virginia; and aunt, Frances Mc-Elhiney of Marion.



His father preceded him in death.



Todd was a laborer for Union Local 727 for over 30 years and was a member of V.F.W. Post 1376, the Mt. Vernon Gun & Sportsman Club, the Sons of American Legion and the Mt. Vernon Elks. Todd will be greatly missed by his daughters, grandkids, family and his many friends.

Todd D. McElhiney, age 57, of 16633 N. McCauley Lane, Mount Vernon, Illinois and formerly of Tampico died Monday, June 9, 2008 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.


Todd was born on August 22, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lloyd and Alma (Caldwell) McElhiney. He was a laborer for Union Local #727 for over 30 years and was a member of the Mount Vernon Gun & Sportsman Club, the  Sons of American Legion. The VFW Post #1376, and the Mount Vernon Elks. Todd will be greatly missed by his daughters, grandkids, family and his many friends.


He is survived by three daughters Jennifer (Eric) Staples of Sterling, Illinois, Amanda (Nathan) Boettner of Forreston, Illiois, Jaleigh McElhiney of Mount Vernon, Illinois; his mother Alma McElhiney of Tampico, Illinois; 5 granchildren: Drew Pace, MacKenzie and Lexy Staples of Sterling, Illinois, Brooke and Evan Boettner of Forreston, Illinois; one brother Steve McElhiney of Tampico, Illinois; one sister Beth Brondas of Virginia; and one aunt Frances McElhiney of Marion, Illinois.


He was preceded in death by his father.


Cremation rites were accorded. Memorial services were conducted on Saturday at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor of the Tampico United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Hopewell Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
