The death of Mr. James Leahy of Deer Grove, one of the pioneer residents of Hahnaman Township, and one of the vetrerans of the civil war, occurred Monday morning at about 2 o'clock following an illness of long standing.

The funeral services were held at St. Mary's church, Wednesday morning and interment made in St. Mary's Cemetery. There was a very large number in attendance to pay their last respects to an honored citizen and an old friend. Mr. Leahy was a native of Ireland who came to this country in his young manhood, who swerved his country during the Civil War. He was one of the few surviving veterans of that great struggle in this vicinity, and was highly respected and esteemed by all who knew him.
