LEONARD  K.  HOWLETT

 

Prophetstown: - Leonard K. Howlett, 80, died early this morning at the Prophets Riverview Center.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Gardner Chapel, Prophetstown. Burial will be in the Lyndon Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  The Rev. Bruce Janes will officiate. A memorial has been established to the Prophets Riverview Center.

 

Leonard Howlett was born on May 17, 1903 in Fairfield Township the son of Frank and Elizabeth Klobes Howlett. On Dec. 14, 1925 he married Margerete Morse of Prophetstown. They lived in Fairfield Township and Portland Township prior to moving to Prophetstown in 1940.  He worked as a crewleader for Commonwealth Edison from 1936 until 1966.

 

Surviving are one son, Burnell Howlett, Prophetstown; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Justine) Swanson, Tampico and Mrs. John (Alverda) Marckx, Elcho, Wis.; two brothers, Wayne of Rock Falls and Oran of Davenport; two sisters, Leona Girton of Rock Falls and Irene Feagens of Roseburg, Oregon; eight grandchildten and ten great grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death was his wife in 1974.
