Gertrude Benson Dies At Prophetstown 

Prophetstown: - Mrs. Gertrude Benson, 74, died Monday evening at Community General Hospital. 

Funeral services will be at the First Lutheran Church Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. L. S. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.  Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Gardner Funeral Chapel. 

Gertrude Viola Benson was born March 22, 1989 at Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Gardin. She married Oscar J. Benson, Wausa, Neb.  The couple farmed in the Prophetstown area from 1950 to 1955, when they moved into Prophetstown. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. 

Survivors include three sons:  John, Morrison;  Franklin, Des Plaines, and Bert, Prophetstown;  11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren;  one brother, Fritz, Minneapolis, Minn.;  three sisters, Mrs. Elllen Ottoson, Wausa, Neb.;  Mrs. Lillian Larson and Mrs. Arthur LeVahn, both of Minneapolis, Minn.  

She was preceded in death by her husband and one grandchild.

Prophetstown: - Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Benson, who died Monday evening, May 29 in Community General Hospital in Sterling were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, with Rev. L. S. Anderson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

 Pallbearers were:  Burr Merrill, John Albrecht Sr., Ernest Lysell, Milan Fotzler, Clyde Olsson and Harry Pearson. 

Caring for flowers were Mrs. Burr Merrill, Mrs, John Albrecht Sr. and Hillcrest Greenhouse.
