Josephine Dykema March 20, 1918 - April 15, 2010

JOSEPHINE DYKEMA, 92, of 310 W. Third Street, Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, April 15, 2010 at St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL. Josephine was born March 20, 1918 in Morrison, IL, to Richard and Annie (Burman) Voss. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. She married Victor J. Dykema on August 22, 1936 in Morrison. He died April 12, 1999. Josephine was employed by the Rich’s Toy Factory in Morrison and farmed with her husband in the Morrison area. She later worked at Micro Gear in Prophetstown, retiring in 1978. Josephine was a former member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She later attended Lyndon United Methodist Church and was a current member of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown. She also was a member of the Lyndon Historical Society.

Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family, especially grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and baking cinnamon rolls.

Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Robert) Jackson of Phoenix, AZ and Barbara (Allen) Bush of Morrison, IL; one son, Dale (Marian) Dykema of Morrison, IL; one son-in-law, Stephen Westlund of Amboy, IL; seven grandchildren, Carman (James) Funderburgh, Cindy (Steve) Whiting, Sara (Gene) Medendorp, Scott (Sherry) Dykema, Michelle (Gus) Linke, Kent (Heather) Bush, and Melissa (Dana) Taylor; thirteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jane Hanson of Scottsdale, AZ and Lorraine Dykema of Morrison, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; one daughter, Renee Westlund; two grandchildren, Monica Bush and Richard Paul Renner; one great granddaughter, Angela McGinty; two sisters, Henrietta Dykema and Maggie Renkes; one brother, R. James Voss.

FUNERAL SERVICE WHEN AND WHERE: 3:00 PM Sunday – April 18, 2010 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home – 320 Lafayette Street – Prophetstown, IL

VISITATION: 1:00 PM until time of funeral service, Sunday – April 18, 2010 at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home – 320 Lafayette Street – Prophetstown, IL
