EUGENE  CYRIL  CURRIE

Funeral Is Saturday for E. C. Currie, 74

Lyndon: - Funeral services for E. C. Currie, 74, who died Wednesday morning en route to a hospital from a Joslin nursing home, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Gardner Chapel in Prophetstown.

The Rev. Kenneth Kortmeier will officiate and burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery.  The body has been taken to Gardner Mortuary where friends may call at the Chapel.

Eugene Cyril Currie was born Sept. 18, 1880, in Homewood, the son of Archie and Mary Ann Lynagh Currie, and received his education in the LaSalle County Schools. He was married to Bertha A. Swinke of Tampico in Morrison on Dec. 22, 1909, and the couple lived in Tampico until 1917 when they moved to Prophetstown.  Mr. Currie had lived in Luyndon for the past eight years.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prophetstown and of the Waltham Church of LaSalle County.

Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Harry (Mamie) Johnson of Sterling, Mrs. Evan P. (Ethel) Whitlock of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Lena Drummet of Prophetstown, Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Duncan of Dixon; Mrs. Clinton (Mildred) Hilger of Sterling, Mrs. Byron (Mabel) Urban of Prophetstown and Mrs. Raymond (Pearl) Schmitz of Tucson, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and two brothers, Clarence of Highmore, S.D., and A. J. of Gilmore City, Iowa.  He was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one son, Clarence William.
