MABLE  PRISCILLA  (Keefer)  DOERING

Mrs. Herbert Doering Succumbs Sunday Night

Prophetstown: - Mrs. Herbert Doering, Sr., 47, passed away Sunday night in the Jane Lamb Hospital, Clinton, Iowa,  where she was taken last Monday. She had been in failing health for several years.  Her body was taken to the Gardner Mortuary in Prophetstown, where friends may call at the chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at the Prophetstown Lutheran Church Wednesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. Carl A. Bengtson, officiating.  The committal will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Doering was born April, 8 1902 in Sterling, daughter of William A. and Racy E. Thurn Keefer, here maiden name having been Mable Priscilla Keefer. She was married Mach 15, 1922 in St. John's Lutheran parsonage in Sterling to Herbert Doering of Morrison. The couple lived in Morrison three years, and in Sterling four years and later in the Prophetstown community.  As a girl she attended schools in Moline, Sterling and Harmon and graduated from Brown's Business College, Sterling. She was a member of the OES, Galt Grange, Mothers Club, Riverside Club, the Lutheran Church and church organizations.

Surviving are her parents; her husband; two sons, Herbert, Jr., and David in the home; two grandsons; four brothers, Ezra of Tampico; Roy and Elmer of Sterling and John of Elmhurst; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Wiegand, Mrs. Katharyn Worth and Mrs. Ethel Heide of Sterling, besides numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
