HAROLD  C.  ANDERSON

Harold C. Anderson, 87, of Prophetstown, died Dec. 17, 1993, at CGH Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown, Rev. Jeffrey Clements, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery,

Prophetstown.  Friends may call at the Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown, from 4-8 p.m. on Monday. A memorial has been established for the First Lutheran Church.

Harold was born Aug. 18, 1906, in New Bedford, Ill., the son of Carl and Amanda (Munson) Anderson.  He graduated from Manlius High School and attended Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Ind., after which he taught elementary school for several years.  He was married to Arvilla Swanson of Prophetstown on March 18, 1936, after which he worked many years as a carpenter, and also engaged in dairying and farming until 1987.  The couple moved to their present home in Prophetstown in 1992.

Harold was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, and had served in many offices of the church, was for many years a member of the church choir, and was instrumental in the construction of the present church building.  He was a former member and delegate of American Milk Producers, Inc. and was a former member of Rock River Valley and Prophetstown Horseshoe Leagues.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Janet (Mrs. Robert, Pastor) Vedell of Franklin Grove, and Ruth (Mrs. Gary) Villarreal of Madison, Wis.; two sons, Paul of Janesville, Wis., and Robert of Prophetstown; and thirteen grandchildren. 

He was preceded by a grandson, Thomas; a sister, Mildred Sonnenberg; and a brother, Arthur.
