ELWOOD  "Pete"  RAKOW

Tampico: - Elwood "Pete" Rakow, 78, formerly of Tampico, died Nov. 7, 1993 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Normal.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with the Rev. Mary Ann Kvapil, pastor of Tampico United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Tampico Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Parkinson Foundation.

Mr. Rakow was born Nov. 22, 1914 in Sterling, the son of John and Alice Comstock Rakow. He married Frances Aldrich Feb. 15, 1946. She died Sept. 6, 1990.  He was employed at International Harvester in his earlier years and then worked for Tampico Farmer's Elevator, Tampico.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jean Thompson of Bloomington; one granddaughter, one great grandchild; one brother, Al Rakow of Darien; and one sister, Hazel Pierce of Sterling.  He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
