Prophetstown: - Paul W. Detra, 71, of 507 Market Street in Prophetstown, died Saturday evening at Community General Hospital in Sterling.  Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Prophetstown United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Janes, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. in the Gardner Chapel where Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m.  A memorial has been established.

Paul was born on May 7, 1915 in Malvern, the son of Charles and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Detra.  He graduated from Morrison High School in 1933 and on Aug. 21, 1937 he was united in marriage to Eileen Johnson in Prophetstown. The couple resided in Prophetstown since their marriage and he was employed at Frary & Sons from 1946 until retiring in 1982.  The deceased was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Prophetstown Lodge 293 Masonic AF & AF, the Minerva Chaper O.E.S. and served for 17 years on the volunteer fire department.  He was also cub master for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen, one daughter, Mrs. Neil (Virginia) Giffin of Prophetstown, one son, Neil of Prophetstown, eight grandchildren, and three brothers, Ralph of Rockford, Russel of Prophetstown and Warren of Clinton, Ia.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
