Ronald Oncken

PROPHETSTOWN – Ronald W. “RW” Oncken Sr., 83, of Prophetstown, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at his home. He farmed in the Prophetstown area for more than 60 years.

Mr. Oncken was born July 12, 1927, in Milledgeville, the son of Elmer and Lillian (Stern) Oncken. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He married Lavona Egbert on July 28, 1948, in Prophetstown. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Morrison.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Bradley Oncken, Stanley (Denice) Oncken, and Ronald “Fritz” Oncken, all of Prophetstown, Richard (Barb) Oncken of Washington, Ill., and Brent (Peggy) Oncken of Lyndon; one sister, Jean (Frank) Milnes of Prophetstown; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private services will be at a later date.

Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Homes.

Memorials have been established to St. Peter Lutheran Church, Morrison, and Hospice of the Rock River Valley, Dixon.
