The subject of this sketch was born in the parish of Slatthag, county of Kronoberg, Sweden, and came to Dixon, Lee County, August 4, 1853. She resided in that city one year and then moved to what is now known as the old Olsson homestead, in the west part of Tampico township, which was her home up to the time of her death.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Britta Daniels, was married to John Olsson in Sweden, April 16, 1845. Eight children were born of this union, six of which survive her, one daughter and five sons, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of Augusta G., who is pastor of a church in Sweden. The names of the other surviving children are Lena Pierson, O. D., Andrew, John W. all residing in Tampico, and Joseph who lives in Rock Falls. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, September 4, Rev. J. E. Holzt of Prophetstown, officiating, and the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery in this village.
