John L. Egan, Prominent Hahnaman Farmer, Dies

John L. Egan, 86, a well-known, prominent farmer and lifelong resident of Hahnaman Township, passed away Saturday evening at 9:05 in the Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton, after a brief illness. 

Mr. Egan was born on Aug. 23, 1878 in Hahnaman Township, the son of Michael and Ellen Ford Egan. He was united in matrimony with Emma Mary Welch in st. Brendans' Church,  Chicago, by Rev. L. X. DuFour on Feb. 21, 1906.  He served as a member of his local school board for many years and was very active in community affairs.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Vincent E. of Ohio, Ill., and Mrs. Florence Sharp of Rockford, three grandchildren, Ann Egan of Ohio, Ill., and John and Mary Sharp of Rockford.  He also leaves one sister, Sister Mary Sara of Chicago and three brothers, William of Tampico, Edward of Deer Grove and Paul J. of New Jersey.

Preceding Mr. Egan in death were his wife, three sons, Roland, Thomas and Charles, his parents, five brothers and one sister. 

The body of Mr. Egan reposes at the Ross Funeral Home in Walnut and may be viewed Monday after 3 p.m.   Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home by Rev. Ambrose Weitekamp.  The funeral will be held in St. Mary's Church Tampico, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
