PROPHETSTOWN – Rosie J. Meier, 80, of 320 Woodlawn Drive, Prophetstown, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home. She and her husband owned and operated Meier’s Market grocery store. She later worked at Rock River Lumber and Grain, Prophetstown.

Rosie was born  June 2, 1931, in Lincoln, the daughter of John and Beatrice (Brown) Redshaw. She married Gordon “Skeeter” Meier on April 20, 1952, in Prophetstown. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2002. Rosie was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Gareth) Bevard of Roswell, Ga.; one son, Keith (Lauri) Meier of Lyndon; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Decker and Vernabel Thormahlen.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette St., Prophetstown. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Jensen, associate pastor of Gateway Faith Fellowship, Fulton, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.

Memorials have been established to Prophetstown American Legion Post 522 and Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
