Herman W. ‘HW’ Hostetler

DEER GROVE – Herman William “HW” Hostetler, peacefully passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, at his home.

“HW” was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Shelbyville. “HW,” with his family, moved to Henry County in 1937, at which time he accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized Aug. 14, 1938. He was united in holy matrimony to Lela Fern Shrock on Feb. 13, 1944. They lived and farmed together in the Tampico-Walnut neighborhood for nearly 58 years. Lela passed away on Feb. 2, 2002.

Four children were born to this union, Eleanor VanPelt (deceased), James Hostetler and Norman Hostetler, both of Deer Grove, and Loretta Baker of Tampico. Surviving are three brothers, Lester of Otterville, Mo., Wayne of Tampico and Leroy of Harmon; and one sister, Mary Alice of Green Forest, Alaska. “HW” married Lenora Shrock on Feb. 20, 2003, sharing his life with Lenora for nearly 8 1/2 years.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Fairfield Amish School, rural Tampico. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church, rural Tampico. Burial will be at Fairfield Amish Cemetery.

Arrangements were completed by Garland Funeral Home, Walnut.
