VERNA  I.  (Egert)  KLOCKENGA

Prophetstown:  -  Verna I. Klockenga, 79, of Prophetstown, died Oct. 23, 1991, at CGH Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Leon United Methodist Church, rural Prophetstown, with the Rev. Steve Hartman, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown.  A memorial has been established.

Mrs. Klockenga was born Oct. 2, 1912 in Lorraine Township, Henry County, the daughter of Joseph and Ione (Richer) Egert.  She was educated in Kemmis School. She married Harvey Klockenga, Oct. 4, 1930 in Cambridge, Ill.  He died in November of 1988.  She and her husband farmed in the Prophetstown community for many years, retiring and moving in Prophetstown in 1972. She was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Heitzler, Prophetstown, and Phyllis Caine, DeKalb; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mason (Arlene) Jackson, Fulton; and one brother Arvid Egert, Burlington, Iowa. 

She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
