MERLE  J.  MARX

Sterling:  - Merle J. Marx, 73, of 1904  11th Ave., Sterling, died Thursday at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, with the Rev. Robert May, pastor of Tampico United Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  A memorial has been established to the Tampico Christmas Committee and the Tampico Community Building.

Mr. Marx was born Nov. 11, 1917 in Dodgeville, Wisc., the son of Joseph A. and Martha Heibel Marx. He married Lola Mae Anderson on Nov. 11, 1939 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  She preceded him in death Aug. 26, 1988.  He owned and operated the Friendly Tavern in Tampico for about 10 years and was then a machinist at Sterling Steel Ball and retired about 10 years ago.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas L. Marx, Sidney, Neb.; Timothy J. Marx, South Royalton, Vermont; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Pearl McCormick, Sterling; two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son.
