Robert H. Boardman, 88, of Port Byron, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, at Illini Restortive Care, Silvis.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct, at Giboon Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Maria Cemetery, Hillsdale, Memorials may be made to Fairfield United Methodist Chruch, or the EH Spencer Foundation.

Robert H. Boardman was born Jan. 21, 1923, to Albert M. and Sarah "Sadie" (Corrin) Boardman on their rural Port Byron farm. He graduated from Cordova High School and remained home to farm.  He later worked for Moormans Feed near Tampico as a feed salesman. Robert was a member of Fairfield Unitted Methodist Church, Port Byron, and the Farm Burequ. He was an influence on his nieces and nephews in that manner. Robert also loved to raise flowers and enjoyed taking fresh flowers and dired arrangements to area nursing homes to sahare with their residents.

Survivors included his nephew, Al and wife Rita Boardman, Hillsdale; great nieces and nephews, Ricahrd (Jill) Baordman, Denver, Colo., Brenda Boardman, Austin Texas, Ron Boardman, Sterling, and Abby Boardman, Hillsdale; local cousins, Janice Wainwright, Isabel Riewerts, Chuck (Ruth) Boardman, Wallace (JoAnn) Corrin, Barbara Corrin, and Esther Corrin, of Neola, Iow.
