Emmary W. Jones, 98, Medford, Ore., formerly of Tampico, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, in Oregon.

Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Greenville Fairfield Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Garland, Tampico.

He was born Jan. 12, 1909, in Miami County, Ohio, to Charles H. and Emma Weimer Jones. He married Hazel Ohlson Sept. 6, 1941. She preceded him in death.

Survivors (and spouses) are his son, James R. (Roseanna) Jones, Medford; daughter, Jennifer (Max) Zilisch, Clinton, Iowa; grandchildren, Rich Jones, Robert Jones, Jolene Burkus, Jeff Jones, Michelle Zilisch, Nicole Denison, Shanna Zilisch; great-grandchildren, Steven, Parker, Michael-la and Dallas Jones, Nathan and Kaizer Burkus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday at Greenville Fairfield Cemetery, New Bedford, Ill., with the Rev. Greg Olson, pastor of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, Ill., officiating. Garland Funeral Home, Tampico, is in charge of arrangements.

MEDFORD, Ore. — Emmary W. Jones, 98, of Medford and formerly of Tampico, Ill., died Tuesday in Oregon.

Cremation rites were accorded. Burial of cremains will be in Greenville Fairfield Cemetery, New Bedford, Ill.

He was born Jan. 12, 1909, in Miami County, Ohio, to Charles H. and Emma Weimer Jones. He married Hazel Ohlson on Sept. 6, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. She preceded him in death. 

He served in the United States Air Force in the South Pacific during World War II and received numerous metals and citations. He worked as a lineman with the Thomas Telephone Co., was a mail route driver with the Tampico Postal Service and assisted area farmers. 

He was a longtime member of Eshelman Tally Doye American Legion Post 1191, Hooppole, Ill., and a lifetime member of the American Legion. 

Survivors include one son, James R. (Roseanna) Jones of Medford; one daughter, Jennifer (Max) Zilisch of Clinton; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
