Tampico - James A. Chalupnik, age 63, of Tampico, Illinois died Friday, September 30, 2011 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Jim was born April 12 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Jolene Denison on September 22, 2006 in Tampico. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Hawkeye Truck and Trailer in Sterling, Illinois for about 5 years as a diesel mechanic. Jim was a member of the Tampico American Legion and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife Jolene Chalupnik of Tampico, Illinois; one sister Nancy C. Lee of Elgin, Illinois; one aunt Joan Jones of Charles City, Iowa; one stepson Brian Strike of Tampico, Illinois; two step grandchildren Reece and Noah Strike of Sterling, Illinois; one niece, three nephews; one great niece and four great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Cremation rites were accorded. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico with C.J. McNinch, officiating.
