Tampico - Lawrence L. Thome, age 94, of Sterling, Illinois and formerly of Tampico died Thursday July 4, 2013 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois.
Lawrence was born on May 28, 1919 in Harmon, Illinois the son of Roy and Minnie (Kunde) Thome. He was united in marriage to Mildred M. Lee on April 28, 1938 in Iowa, they were married for 67 years. She preceded him in death on January 12, 2005. Lawrence farmed in the Tampico area for 44 years. He served on the Tampico school board and Tampico Elevator board. He was also a member of the Tampico Methodist Church and was a member of the Mason’s for 50 years. 
He is survived by one son Larry ( Judy) Thome of Tampico, Illinois; one daughter Jerria (Neil) Cady of Rock Falls, Illinois; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister Beverly (Sam) Beattie of Rock Falls, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and two step-sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Tampico. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Leanne Keate, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tampico Memorial Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church of Tampico.
