TAMPICO – Lawrence E. Thome, 75, of Tampico, died Friday, July 18, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
 
Larry was born on Jan. 4, 1939, in Sterling, the son of Lawrence and Mildred (Lee) Thome. He was united in marriage to Judy Vermeire DePauw on June 12, 1971, in Geneseo. Larry farmed in the Tampico area during his lifetime.
 
He was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church, the Tampico Lions Club, and a life member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association. Larry was also a 40-year member of the Tampico Fire Department. He enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and going to his grandchildren’s sporting games.  
 
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Tampico; two sons, Robert Thome of Rock Falls, and Jeff Thome of Tampico; one daughter, Sherry Bauer of Union Grove, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Andrew and Reece Bauer, and Braeden, Logan and Hannah Thome; one sister, Jerria (Neil) Cady of Rock Falls; one niece and one nephew. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tampico United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Leanne Kaete, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Annawan. Memorials have been established to Tampico United Methodist Church and The Tampico Fire Department.
