Deceased Name: Homer Kepner
Homer W. Kepner, 87, of 302 Heaton St., Walnut died Jan. 11, 2006, in St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Garland Funeral Home, Walnut. Pastor Ralph Faber will officiate.
Burial will be at Walnut Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
Mr. Kepner was born April 22, 1918, in Tampico to Joseph J. and Minnie (Schmidt) Kepner.
He married Maurine A. Day on Jan. 29, 1939, in Tampico United Methodist Church. She died Dec. 9, 2000. He then married Eloise Sommer Cloyd in October 2001.
 
He attended Tampico schools and graduated from Tampico High School.
He farmed in the Walnut area and did custom butchering until retiring in 1984.
He was a member of Grace United Brethren Church in Manlius, where he served on the board for several years and was past president. He was a former 4-H leader and past president of Walnut Senior Citizens Center. He was inducted into Walnut Hall of Fame.
 
Survivors are his wife, Eloise of Walnut; five sons, Lowell "Hoot" (Penny) Kepner of Manlius, David (Bonnie) Kepner of Walnut, Dale (Jayne) Kepner of Arpin, Wis., Kent (Glenda) Kepner of Racine, Wis., and Leo Kepner of Normal; one daughter, Kathy (Jerry) Schulte of Walnut; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be directed to Walnut Senior Citizen Center and Walnut Fire Department.
