FORMER HEALTH OFFICER PASSES

Dr. E.L. Dow of Rock Falls Dies While Asleep

Dr. E. L. Dow, 70, for many years a practicing physician and city health officer in Rock Falls, died while in his sleep about 7 o’clock this morning, at his home, 217 Second Avenue. He had been ill for some time with heart disease, but the past few weeks was much improved in health and able to take rides in the car. Friday night he was able to accompany his family for a short ride and his death was a severe shock to them.

Private funeral services will be held in the home on Monday afternoon. Interment will be in the family lot in the Erie cemetery.

For the past 48 years D., Dow had practiced medicine in Erie and in Rock Falls. He was graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1887.

Besides his wife, Dr. Dow is survived by two daughters, Dorothy and Helen Dow, both in the home.
