Timothy E. Boonstra, 39, of Morrison, died on Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle accident in rural Lyndon.

 

Whiteside County deputies investigated the report of a single-vehicle rollover crash at 4:24 p.m. Saturday on Illinois 78 south of Moline Road in rural Lyndon.  According to witnesses, the vehicle involved was traveling north on Illinois 78 when it left the road and rolled, according to a release from the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, Mr. Boonstra, was ejected from the vehicle because the seat belt was not utilized, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald, the release said. An 8-year-old male passenger, who was properly restrained, was transported from the scene by Prophetstown Ambulance to CGH Medical Center in Sterling with nonlife-threatening injuries, the release said.

The crash remains under investigation. Assisting on the scene were Prophetstown/Lyndon Fire and EMS, Prophetstown Police, Illinois State Police, Met Force Air Transport and R/K Towing.
