George “Tony” A. Shierry, age 70, of Lyndon, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society-Prophets Riverview in Prophetstown.


Tony was born November 4, 1945 in Sterling the son of John and Geneva “Peggy” (Hackett) Shierry. He married Sandy Burger on April 15, 1980 in St. Pete, Fla. He was employed at Micro Industries in Rock Falls and was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls.

Survivors include his wife of Lyndon; two daughters, Cheryl (John) Watts of Rock Falls and Jamie (John Brady) Shierry of Sterling; two sisters, Valerie Shierry of Morrison and Nancy Sharp of Port Lavaca, Texas; one brother, Darell (Joan)Shierry of Iowa Park, Texas; one sister-in-law, Helen Shierry; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, John Shierry, James Shierryand Anthony Shierry; three sisters, Marcia Yarborough, Judy Carrington and Cynthia Shierry; one brother, Robert Shierry; and three brothers-in-law, Gene Yarborough, Jerry Carrington and Ray Sharp.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 4 – 6 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Dalmus Meeks of Harvest Time Bible Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
