Obituary of Ronald Rank

Ronald I. (Doc) Rank, 92, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.

Ronald was born on April 26, 1923 in Morrison. He is the son of Barney and Marjorie (Wells) Sollars. He married Helen Rosene on December 31, 1946 in Tampico. She preceded him in death on October 16, 1991.

Ronald was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose. He attended Sterling HS and graduated from Tampico HS. He also attended Moline Bus College, Syracuse University, Knox College, Illinois Institute of Technology, Lakeforest College and Northern Illinois University, where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degrees. He taught science and math at Prophetstown High School; physics, mathematics and electronics at Glenbrook North High School; physics at Glenbrook South High School. Ronald was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award at Glenbrook South High School. He was a member of the Illinois Education Association, National Education Association and American Association of Physics Teachers. He served as president of the Wheeling Community Council; treasurer of the Wheeling Buffalo Grove United Fund; and membership chairman of Wheeling Community Concert Association.

Survivors include; two daughters, Suzanne (Jeffery) Blackwell of Delafield, WI and Lorelei (Charles) Schatti of Panama City Beach, Florida; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 1 great-grandchild and 5 sisters-in-law.

Funeral services for Ronald will be at 10:30 AM Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Wesley United Methodist Church, Sterling, with the Reverend Wesley Dickson, Pastor officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-6 p.m. at the Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation, including a Moose ritual. Burial will be following funeral services at Tampico Memorial Cemetery, Tampico, with military rites.

A memorial has been established for the Wesley United Methodist Church for special projects.
