Raymond L Pierson, 88, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Reshave Nursing Home in Morrison. Raymond L Pierson was born March 12, 1927, the son of Sivard and Myrtle (Lindquist) Pierson in Prophetstown. He married Lucia Beveroth in Morrison on November 19, 1950. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II before he was honorably discharged.

Raymond farmed in Sterling most of his life, as well as worked in construction. He operated a truck-mounted seed cleaner, cleaning oats, soybeans and other grains for seed. When he retired from farming. he enjoyed volunteering at the CLS Thrift Store and was a lifelong American Red Cross blood donor.

Mr. Pierson was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Morrison. He also was a member of the Toastmaster's Club and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Raymond quietly modeled Christ's love and his life and his actions as he served his family, commonly and church faithfully. He his wife, Lucia Pierson of 65 years; two sons, Curtis (donna) Pierson of  Olathe, Kansas and Michael Pierson (Barb Dirks Bays) of Sterling; two daughters, Ingrid (Tim) Schalk of Knoxville, TN and Rhonda (Will) Baumgarten of Watertown, WI; two brothers, Clarence (Pat) Pierson of Colorado and Richard Pierson of California; ten grandchildren, Joshua Baumgarten, Matthew (Crystal) Baumgarten, Sarah Baumgarten, Elizabeth Baumgarten, Aaron (Tasha) Schalk, Megan (Daniel) Huffman, Melissa Pierson, Tara (Keith) Hawbaker, Trish Ayers, and Andrew (Emily) Pierson; ten great-children, Jacob Mitz, Jake Ayers, Truman Ayers, Edmond Pierson, Mla Pierson, Alexandria Schick, Alexander Spengler Pierson, Pierce Hawbaker, Jacob Huffman, and Emily Huffman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dean Pierson and one sister Betty Cherry. (Memorial Card - Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling Home)
