Nicholas J. Garza, 27 of Prophetstown died Thursday, December 17, 2015 while at work in Camanche, IA.

He was born on August 14, 1988 in Sterling, the son of Rosendo Joseph and Diane Marie (Abell) Garza Jr. He was a 2007 graduate of Prophetstown High School and a graduate of Nashville Auto/Diesel College. Nic had worked at Dohrn Trucking; Tyson Foods; Birkeys in Prophetstown and MH Equipment. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prophetstown.

Surviving are his parents of Prophetstown; his son Elyzum Joseph Garza and his soul mate, Catie Lynn Rhodes; his brother Nathan Garza of Prophetstown; his maternal grandmother Ruth "Cuca" Garza of Rock Falls; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and "special sister" Jocelyn Pritchard.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary (Oberg) Abell and paternal grandfather, Rosendo S. Garza Sr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday December 20, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday at 11 AM in St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling. Private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
