Phyllis was born January 11, 1921, in Fulton, IL to Henry and Elsie (Jacobs) Cossman. She was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a 1940 graduate of Fulton High School. On June 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Jones in Fulton. Phyllis was employed as a secretary at the Savanna Army Depot and also during that time she sang professionally with her sisters at KROS Radio. She most recently worked at the Nielsen Clearing House in Clinton, IA until her retirement. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the church's Altar and Rosary Society, Christian Family Movement Group, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. She also taught catechism for many years. Through her caring nature, Phyllis sponsored home summer visits for inner city children. She also hosted military personnel from the Savanna Army Depot in her home for the holidays. Phyllis volunteered for 17 years at the Fulton schools, helping children with their reading skills.
