7155560_300x300   TAMPICO, IL – Marjorie A. Wetzell, 86 died Saturday November 5, 2016 at Prophets Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Prophetstown.

 

She was born on August 17, 1930, in Sterling, the daughter of Lowell and Ethel (Mathis) Lewis and was a 1948 graduate of Rock Falls High School. She married Harold Oscar Wetzell on September 5, 1948, in Tampico. He died on August 4, 2015. Marjorie helped her late husband work and operated the family farm where they raised their children and later she cooked at the former Dutch Diner in Tampico and drove a school bus for the Tampico, Prophetstown, Lyndon District. She had served as an election judge for Hume for many years. Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tampico and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sterling.

Surviving are her daughters: Dorothy (Dennis) Bruder and Patricia Etheridge (Larry Gerlach) all of Tampico; her sons: Mark (Mary) Wetzell and David Wetzell all of Tampico; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters: Retha Woodring, Bernice Jahn and Betty Toppert.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, from 9 – 10:45 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Tampico. The funeral will follow at 11 AM in the church with the Reverend Leanne Keate pastor officiating. Burial will conclude at the Tampico Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.

A memorial will be established in her memory.
