David Wayne Bennett, 66, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the visitation at the First Baptist Church of Cordova at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Private burial will be at the Cordova Cemetery.

David was born Feb. 5, 1951, in Moline, the son of Joel and Florence Coe Bennett. He graduated from Riverdale High School in 1969, and then from Lincoln Barber College in East Moline. He married Dana Churchill in 1982.

David owned and operated his own barber shop in Prophetstown for 42 years. He loved hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a member of the Prophetstown Country Club and the Prophetstown Lions Club. David chose to be a tissue donor giving life to others through the Gift of Hope.

Surviving are his parents, Joel and Florence Bennett, Cordova; children, Justin Bennett and Ashley Bennett, both of Prophetstown; brothers, Paul Bennett, Port Byron, and Neil Bennett, Cordova.
