Arny Joe Johnson, 62, of Deer Grove, died on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.

He was born on March 22, 1955 in Sterling to Arnold Gilbert and Phyllis (Chandler) Johnson. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company for 27 years until the mill closed. He later worked at Sterling Steel for 15 years.

Surviving are his children, Brandi (Jeffrey) Tutterrow of San Antonio, Texas, Aaron (Lenore) Johnson of Iowa City, Iowa and Jeremy (Leigh) Johnson of Davenport, Iowa; his father and step-mother, Arnold (Betty) Johnson of Pahrump, Nev.; a sister, Karen Van Horn of Rock Falls and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother Aaron.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, March 20 at McDonald Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Christina Berry, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Sterling, officiating. Private burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
