Bertha Driessens 

Bertha Driessens, 102, of Tampico, died August 16, 2018 at Heritage Woods of Sterling. Bertha was born on March 3, 1916 in Sheffield, IL, the daughter of Camiel and Madeline Van Parys. She married Kamiel Driessens on September 26, 1936 at St Patrick Catholic Church in Sheffield. They lived in Tampico where they raised their three sons; Donald, Darrell and Dennis. Bertha was very active in the community including St Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, Tampico Women's Club, Tampico American Legion Auxiliary and The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan. 


Bertha is survived by her sons Donald (Pat) Driessens of Rock Falls and Darrell (Lynette) Driessens of North Las Vegas, Nevada; eight grandchildren, Steve (Jennifer) Driessens, Mark (Laura) Driessens, Kevin (Trinda) Driessens, Reann Holbrook, Michelle Driessens, Michael Driessens, Chip Murdock and Scott (Dana) Konneck; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister; Janice Miller of The Villages, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Dennis; step-mother, Marie Van Parys; and brother, Walter Van Parys.

 

Visitation is Saturday, August 25, 8:00-10:00 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church, Tampico followed by Rosary at 10:00. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 and officiating will be the Reverend Richard Russo. Burial will conclude at St Mary's Cemetery, Tampico.
