Wm. Newell Passed Away

William Newell, one of the well known citizens of Tampico died Monday morning at 5 o'clock at his home in the western part of town, death resulting from heart trouble with which he had suffered for several years. He had been in poor health since last November being kept to the house for the larger part of the time.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church andinterment was in the Tampico cemetery. Rev. H. A. Snyder officiated.

William Newell was born near New Bedford June 12, 1854 and spent most of his life in that vicinity until he moved to Tampico in October 1880 where he has resided since.

He was married to Emily Newton Dec. 31m 1880 at Morrison and they made their home here in the western part of town where they have resided since. Mr. Newell was a hard working man while his health permitteed. The surviving relatives are the widow, one step daughter, Mary Atwood of Shenandoah, Iowa, a sister and a brother, the latter living in Seattle.
