AGED TAMPICO LADY HAS PASSED AWAY

The death of Mrs. Margaret SANDERS, one of Tampico's oldest, and most respected residents, occurred last Monday evening after an illness  of some length. Her death was due of largely to the infirmities of old age and a general breaking down of the physical powers. The funeral services were set for Wednesday afternoon, January 27, at the late residence. A full obituary will be published next week.

AGED TAMPICO LADY LAID AT REST

The funeral services of the late Mrs. T. A. SANDERS (SAUNDERS) were held Wednesday afternoon at the late home. Rev. I. A. WOODROW officiating, and interment was in the Tampico  Cemetery. The pall bearers were neighbors and old friends, W. T. SHERE, Theodore BERGE, Swan ANDERSON, F. F. DILON, J. P, GLASSBURN and E. R. MCKENZIE. The floral offerings were a testimony of the esteem in which she was held by all who knew her.

OBITUARY

Margaret Ann BROWN, daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth BROWN, was born in West Hebron, Washington Co., New York, March 23, 1836. In September, 1854 she came west with her people and settled in Mercer County, Ill. Keithsburg.

On August 12, 1855 she was united in marriage to Thomas A. SANDERS (SAUNDERS) of Vanceburg, Kentucky by Rev. SMITH of Oquaka. To this union were born five daughters, four of whom survive this loss - Mrs. Jennie MAXWELL, Mrs. Charlotta BOOZ, Mrs.  Margaret SCOTT and Mrs. H. J. RUSSELL, all of Tampico. Her husband departed this life August 18, 1914.

Mrs. SANDERS united with the United Presbyterian church, known as the Cedar Creek church, twelve miles northwest of Monmouth under the teachings of Rev. J. A. REYNOLDS in 1868 or 1869,and on removal to Monmouth in 1870 she united with the United Presbyterian church by letter and upon moving from this place several years later she withdrew her membership from the church, never having had the opportunity of entering a church of that denomination since. She still holds her letter from the church which she recieved from Rev. Willaim Taggert CAMPBELL, pastor of the church of her membership.

The family was well known in this community. They moved to Yorktown in 1877, and to Tampico about twenty years ago. Mrs. SANDERS was a faithful mother, and always thought first of the comfort of her family. Her health had been failing for several months. Her life was long and useful but years must tell the story of natural decrepitude and decay in the afternoon of Monday, January 25,1926, she fell quietly asleep in Him at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 2 days.

In addition to the four daughters mentioned she leaves the following  grandchildren: Glenn MAXWELL of Tampico, Mrs. Fred DANIEL of Omanha, Beb. Miss Helen BOOZ  of Chicago, Mrs. Orville GORSS of Clinton, Iowa, Mrs. August PIERCESON of Yorktown, Mrs. L. N. YARDE of Galesburg, Carroll, Ward and Robert SCOTT of Tampico. Also five great grandchildren, a number of distant relatives and many friends who mourn her loss.
