STERLING — Henry E. Nielsen, age 93, of 901 W. Third St., Sterling, formerly of Tampico, died Monday, July 24, 2006, at CGH Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 11, 1912, in Tampico, the son of Nels and Marie (Pedersen) Nielsen. He was united in marriage to Inez Belowske on June 28, 1939, in Morrison, and she preceded him in death on June 11, 1986. He then married Eileen Davis on Dec. 13, 1987, in Tampico. He farmed in the Tampico area during his lifetime. He was a member of Tampico United Methodist Church; and a former member of Tampico Fire Department and Sterling Moose Lodge 726. He also was a 75-year member of Royal Neighbors. He enjoyed farming, fishing, traveling and going to garage sales.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Sterling; two sons, Marlin (Cheryl) Nielsen of Tampico and Myron (Kathy) Nielsen of El Cajon, Calif.; two grandchildren, Greg (Vicky) Nielsen and Edward (Kris) Nielsen; six great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Rick (Maryse) Davis of Toulouse, France, Mary (Roger) Chriest of Rock Falls and Paul (Sandy) Davis of Rock Falls; nine stepgrandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Olive Nielsen of Tampico; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 28, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Tampico United Methodist Church with the Rev. Monty Fox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Yorktown Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 27, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Garland Funeral Home, Tampico.
