DEATH OF RUFUS J. MELVIN MONDAY

 Rufus MELVIN a former resident of Tampico and a pioneer and worth citizen of this vicintiy for nearly fifty years died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Kate CAHN at Chadwick last Monday. The remains were taken to his old house at New Bedford Tuesday for interment. He had suffered a paralytic stroke Saturday and remained in a unconcious state until nine o'clock Monday forenoon when death came to his relief. He was 72 years of age. He leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn. H. E. MELVIN of Dixon, Ed of Marshaltown, Iowa, and Frank of Chadwick, and Mrs. Kate CAHN and Miss Mae of Chadwick. Mr. MELVIN was well and favorably known throughout the Green River country where he settled more than fifty years ago, and was highly respected as one of hte leading citizens of that section, and the people far and near esteemed him as an upright man and a kind neighbor.
