MRS. EMMA JACOBS (nee Scheler)

Emma Jacobs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Scheler, was born in Montmorency township May 24, 1867. She departed from this life at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Muntean of Dixon, June 26. The deceased spent most of her life in Sterling-Rock Falls)

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Mrs. Jacobs was married to John Jacobs, Jan. 15, 1885 in the Rock Falls Lutheran church by Rev. Stauffenberg. To this union 10 children were born.

Surviving are three sons, Ernest C. and Fred of Rock Falls, and Frank of Tampico; six daughters, Mrs. Anna Von Templehof, Mrs. George (Dora) Zapf, Mrs. William (Lena) Pashon, and Mrs. Hubert (Nellie) Rhodes, all of Rock Falls, Mrs. E. L. (Carried) Muntean of Dixon, and Mrs. Ora (Bertha) Seykes of Sterling, a brother, Chris Scheler of Mattoon; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Jacobs, who died in December of 1924; one son, John Jacobs Jr., who died in 1918; one brother; and three sisters.

Mrs. Jacobs had been ill for the past eight weeks and received loving and tender care by her daughters.
