Chester Alender

QUINCY - Chester Alender, 82, of Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy, formerly of 1591 Winnetka St., Dixon, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at the home. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, for 30 years, as a maintenance man.

Mr. Alender was born Aug. 16, 1925, the son of Andy and Edrie Alender. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II..

Survivors include four sons, Larry Branson of Sterling, Oscar (Kathy) Pace of Chesterton, Ind., Allen (Karla) Alender of Prophetstown, and Paul Pace of Indiana; three daughters, Sandra (Leroy) Bennett Dixon, Sheila Fordyce of Grand Detour and Edryss Alender of Missouri; a brother, Raymond (Maribelle) Alender of Vandalia; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren..

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Alender; and two sisters, Sibley Johnson and Barbara Ruppe..

Private services are at a later date. Cremation rites were accorded. Arrangements were completed by Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, Quincy. *****end of obit*****

"Chet" lived in Tampico, IL for many years, prior to his illness.
