Doris M. Pilgrim

 

            Doris M. Pilgrim, 83, of Morrison, IL died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Resthave Nursing Home.  Funeral services were held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison, IL with Rev. Wesley Dickson, Pastor of the Lyndon United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial followed at Lyndon Township Cemetery, Lyndon, IL.  Memorials have been established.

            Doris was born November 7, 1921, in Morrison, IL to Paul and Ruby M (Cobb) Nice.  She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools, graduated from Morrison High School. 

            She married J. Donald Pilgrim on August 10, 1940.  He died on July 20, 1003.  She farmed with her husband in the rural Lyndon, IL. Area until 1964.  She then moved to Lyndon, where she was a postal carrier and served as Postmaster of Lyndon.

            She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church and the Lyndon Historical Society.  She enjoyed tending her flowers and doing yard work.  She loved to entertain and family gatherings and holidays were always celebrated at her home.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.

            Survivors include two daughters, Judi (Mrs. Ken) Church, Lyndon, IL and Deb (Rus Toland) Woolms, Hamton, IL’ two sons, Jerry (JoAnn) Pilgirm, Davenport, IA and Ron (Mary) Pilgrim, Morrison, IL; 11 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one brother, Warren (Mary Myrle) Nice, Morrison, IL; a special friend, John Gentz, Morrison, IL.

            She was predeceased by her husband, Don; one sister, Catherine Workman; one brother, Ellsworth Nice.
