Robert B. Blackert

 

            Mr. Robert B. Blackert, age 82, of 5149 Backbone Road, Tampico, IL died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at his home.

            Mr. Blackert was born on August 29, 1923 in Hooppole, IL the son of Fred W. and Blanche Fehlman Blackert.  He was united in marriage to Charlotte Vandermoon on April 19, 1947 in Hooppole, IL and she preceded him in death on January 31, 2000.  He farmed in the Hooppole and New Bedford area during his lifetime and was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole.  He also enjoyed listening to WZOE radio broadcasts in Princeton of the Bureau Valley football games.

            He is survived by one daughter, Lynette (Don) MacLagan of Nekoosa, Wisconsin, one son, Duane (Nancy) Blackert of Tampico, IL, three grandchildren Tye Salazar, Allison Blackert, and Eric Blackert, one step granddaughter Erin Winter, his twin sister Roberta Scales of Carlisle, IN, two brothers Everett Blackert of Geneseo, IL, and Dale (Betty) Blackert of Tampico, IL, six sisters-in-laws, Harriet Blackert, Janet Clementz, Dorothy Dorathy, Lois (Robert) Fox, and Bev Vandermoon, one brother-in-law Clifford (Barb) Vandermoon, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gladys, three brothers Fred, Floyd, and Merle, one sister-in-law Margaret Blackert, three brother-in-laws Veral Vandermoon, Howard Dorathy, and Stanley Scales.

            Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at the Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole with Rev. Chuck Trent, pastor officiating.  Burial followed in Hooppole Cemetery.  The Garland Funeral Home in Walnut was in charge of arrangements. 

            A memorial has been established in his memory to the Zion United Methodist Church and the Tampico Rescue Unit.
