Donald P. Hill

 

            Donald P. Hill, 91, of Prophetstown, died Monday, December 3, 2005 at the Prophets Riverview Center, Prophetstown.  Services were held Friday, January 7, 2005 at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church.  Burial with military honors followed in riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown.  A memorial fund has been established.  The Gibson & Son Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

            Don was born November 6, 1913 in rural Prophetstown, the son of Aaron and Jessie (Dorathy) Hill.  He graduated from Prophetstown High School, Class of 1930.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1940 and served until 1945 in the Pacific Theater of Operation.

            Don worked at a local implement dealer for several years.  Upon becoming a licensed plumber, he was employed at the former Perkins Plumbing & Heating in Prophetstown.

            He was a member of American Legion Post #522, Prophetstown and also served as a volunteer fireman for many years.  Don also enjoyed bowling and fishing.

            He is survived by a brother and sisters-in-law, Leamon and Mary Nelle Hill, Dorothy Hill, all of Prophetstown; five nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews.

            A brother, Myron, preceded him.
