Kenneth W. Ufkin

 

            Kenneth W. Ufkin, 82 of rural Lyndon died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at his home.

            He was born on July 10, 1924 in Rock Falls, the son of Frank and Mary (Balster) Ufkin.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Airforce.  He married June Rosenow on March 8, 1953 in Rock Falls.  Ken was a lifelong Hopkins Twp farmer.  He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rock Falls.

            Surviving is his wife, June; his two daughters Barbara (Bob) Vegter and Beverly Ryan both of Morrison; his son Steve (Kathy) Ufkin of Lyndon; his brother Earl (Eva) Ufkin of Sterling; two grandchildren, Rob (Cathleen) Vegter and Kelli (Bryan) Dunn; four step great – grandchildren: Ashley, Bryce and Jacob Vegter and Tyler Barnes.

            He was preceded in death by an infant brother, his parents and one grandson, Scott Ufkin.    

            Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rock Falls with the Reverend Henrietta Milner officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. 

            Memorials in his memory may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Diabetes Foundation.
