Florence G. Wiersema

 

            Florence G. Wiersema, 83, of Morrison, IL died Sunday, June 4, 2006 at her home. 

            Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL preceded by a 9:45 a.m. family prayer service, Rev. Jon W. Nienhuis – Pastor will officiate the services.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 8, 2006 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Morrison Chapel – Bosma Renkes Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL.  Memorials may be made to Sterling YWCA Aid to Abused Children.

            Florence was born May 7, 1923 in Garden Plain, IL to Fred and Bertha (Vogel) Boelkens. She was educated in the Albany Grade school and the Fox Grade School of rural Whiteside County Illinois.  She married Marvin Wiersema on December 1, 1944 in Argo Fay, IL.  He died July 28, 2001.

            She farmed with her husband Marvin in the rural Thomson and Rock Falls, IL areas.  She then operated Wiersema Charter Service of Morrison.  She was a current member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church – Morrison; previously member of Bethel Reformed Church, Sterling and served as a Sunday School Teacher; previously member of Spring Valley Reformed Church – Fulton, IL.  She enjoyed keeping a garden, sewing, keeping house, cooking and baking for all the kids and grandchildren.

            Survivors include three daughters: Carleen (Mrs. Mick) Fisher Fulton, IL; Carolyn Wiersema Morrison, IL; Cheryl (Mrs. Todd) Kullerstrand – Lyndon, IL; one sone, Larry L. (Jan) Wierema – Morrison, IL; 10 grandchildren: Christine (Fred) Reedy, Rana Barsema; Tracy & Karen Richmond; Chelsie (Eric) VanDyke, Tyson & Chana Kullerstrand; Eric (Lisa) Wiersema, Gregg Wiersema; two great grandchildren: Kalley Lindsay & Hailey Wiersema: one sister, Mrs. Ida May Stuart – Morrison, IL.
