Services Friday for Mrs. Frank Howland, Died This Morning

           

            Mrs. Frank J. Howland, 87, passed away this morning at her home in the Leon community after an illness of a few months.  The body was removed to Gardner Funeral Parlors, where friends may call.  Funeral services will be held Friday at the Leon Methodist Church with the Rev. Henry Helverson, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in the Leon Cemetery.

            Delia Richards Howland was born July 24, 1870 , at Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Alpheus and Abigail Perry Richards.  She received her education in the school at Lamar, Mo.

            On July 2, 1899, she was united in marriage to Frank Howland of the Leon community, in the Leon Methodist Church, the first wedding to be performed in the church.  She has lived for 57 years in Leon, where Mr. Howland was engaged in farming.

            She was a member of the Leon WSCS and a charter member of the church.  Besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Mertie) Frazier of Sterling survives: also two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Edna Winton, Lamar, Mo., and Mrs. Effie Graham, McHenry.

            She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers, and two sisters.
