Mr. Robert J. VanLanduit, age 20, of 24576 Starr Road, Tampico, Illinois, died late Monday evening, October 7, 1996 at his home.

 

Funeral prayer services will be conducted on Friday, October 11 at 10 a.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico, followed by mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tampico with Rev. Vincent J. Shindelar, pastor officiating and Dr. H. C. Hatton assisting. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 10 at Garland Funeral Home in Tampico from 2-4 and 6-9 with a scripture service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rock River Valley Hospice, and the American Diabetes Association.

 

Mr. VanLanduit was born on September 27, 1917 in Hillsdale, Illinois, the son of Alfonse and Marie Laethem Van Landuit. He was united in marriage to Margaret VanDeWalle on May 18, 1940 at St. John’s in Rapids City, Illinois. He farmed in the Tampico area during his lifetime, worked at the Walnut Sale Barn in Walnut, Illinois for many years, and was also a truck driver for Cady Grin for a number of years.

 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tampico, the Livestock Feeders Association, Whiteside County Mounted Patrol, and Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He was also a Hume Township Trustee and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years, and he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

 

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Tampico, three sons, Larry (Liz) Van Landuit and Bill (Debi) VanLanduit, both of Tampico and John (Sharon) VanLanduit of Walnut, Illinois; two daughters, Elaine Henrekin of Gramby, Colorado and Mrs. Randy(Beth) Etheridge of Tampico, 17 children. Also surviving are two sisters,, Mrs. Victor (Alice) Standaert of East Moline, Illinois and Stella VanLancker of Moline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
