Mr. Arnold "Joe" Specht, age 68, of 21890 Jersey Road, Tampico, Illinois died suddenly Tuesday afternoon. December 15, 1992 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois.

Funeral prayer services will be conducted on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Garland Funeral Home in Tampico followed by  mass of Christian burial in St. Mary's's Catholic Church in Tampico at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Vincent J. Shindelar, pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tampico. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home with rosary at 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Mr. Specht was born on July 15, 1924 in Prophetstown, IL, the son of Albert and Otilla Leininger Specht. He was united in marriage to Maxine Denison on February 10, 1945 in Atkinson, IL. He farmed in the Tampico area until 1976 and was employed at the The Tampico Farmer's Elevator for about 20 years and retired about 3 years ago. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church in Tampico, and was a former member of Tampico Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife Maxine of Tampico, one daughter, Paula Jo Gladfelter of Prophetstown, IL, one son, Larry Joe Specht of Tampico, four grandchildren; one great grandson, four sister, Ceilaia Van Hyfte and Mrs. Wilbur (Peggy) Moon both of Annawan, IL, Edith Croegaert of Hooppole, IL., and Mrs. Francis (Lucille) DeDecker of Sheffield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
